How it works
Your product, ready for Japan
For each product, all in one place: what you need to enter the Japanese market, who to work with, and what price your product would command on the shelf – all based on official sources. There are two ways to use Japopedia: have your products monitored all year round, or request information on a specific product whenever you need it.
Two paths

The dossier, in three steps ↓With Ōdana: your products, step by step
-
Add your product
Create a free account and add your main product along with its HS code. First of all, we’ll let you know what coverage we have for it: whether its regulatory framework has been reviewed, whether there are any suitable Japanese partners, and whether we have its market data. If the coverage is limited, we’ll let you know before you pay, and if you sign up for Ōdana, we’ll start working on that product the very same day.
- Revised regulatory framework
- Market data currently being compiled
- Still only a few members
-
Requirements – always up to date
Our Regulatory Assistant prepares a report on your product: permits, documents, labelling, restrictions and tariffs under the EU–Japan Agreement, citing the official source and the date for each piece of information. With Ōdana, the information is updated whenever there is a change and we notify you: health-related suspensions, border rejections of Spanish products in your product category, and draft regulations before they are approved, along with the deadline for submitting comments.
-
The market for your product
How much does Spain export to Japan in your product category, where does it rank amongst Japan’s suppliers, who are your competitors, and what is the average price at which each country enters the market, based on official data from Eurostat and Japanese customs?.
-
Recommended partners
We have an up-to-date directory of Japanese companies and recommend those that are a good fit for your product, explaining the reasoning behind each recommendation and what you should check before making contact. You can save your list and keep track of it; with Ōdana, you can view a full profile of each company, and we’ll help you prepare how to approach each one: why choose them and where your product fits into their range.
-
Your price on the shelf
From the price at source to the price in a Japanese shop: freight, verified customs duties, taxes, costs and profit margins along the supply chain. You keep your calculations to hand to prepare the quote for your importer.

Buy credits
Each dossier costs one credit, with credits starting at €50 each. You pay by card, in a single payment, and have 12 months to use them. Up to five people on your team can share the credits.
Describe the product
Your name and the HS code (if you don’t know it, we’ll suggest possible options along with their official descriptions) and, if you want to be more specific, the ex-works price and sales channels. Please specify which company the product is for: yours or a client’s. Before using up your credit, check what we have in stock for that product.
You will receive the information pack
In just a few minutes, via the app and as a PDF, with your reference number: whether you can enter Japan today and under what conditions, requirements and documents; customs duties under the EU–Japan agreement and estimated prices in shops and at markets; suitable Japanese partners; and trade fairs taking place this year. It includes the date of your data and you can submit it to the company for which you have prepared it.
